over 4 years ago – Sat, Sep 21, 2019 at 02:29:17 AM

Greetings Delvers!

The last couple of hours! I just received this from Chris Nicholls at Macrocosm that I just had to share with you. Chris is opening a box of Quality Resin from the other Chris (at Lancaster Casting). This is us being excited about getting some of the production underway during the funding campaign!

Look at that incredible detail! Well, I don't know what else to say? Thank you so much! You have been awesome! Wait, did I say a couple more hours? Oh, that's still enough time to smash another stretch goal! :)

If you have a moment to contact another friend or post another share, please, go right ahead...

Quack!

Thank you! DuckQuest Successfully FUNDED
over 4 years ago – Sat, Sep 21, 2019 at 02:02:05 AM

Greetings Delvers!

We did it! Thank you and well done! I can’t really say that enough. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I apologise for the delay with this update but I had a full day ahead of me here at home in New Zealand at the national highschool Evolocity challenge - an annual competition that involves designing and building an e-bike or e-kart and then pitting your creation against other schools. Being on the opposite side of the world to so many of you, we were enjoying a beautiful sunny day while you slept. This update will probably find you in daylight - it's early evening here now.

Do the mahi, get the treats.

What happens now?

Kickstarter does its thing and collects the funds, then in a few weeks (from previous experience, 3 weeks and 1 day) those funds are released so I can put DuckQuest into production.

Wait, Haven’t You Already Begun?

As you’ve seen from previous updates (and the campaign page) pre-production began before this Kickstarter launched. However, this campaign was about sharing these miniatures, so that gamers can enjoy them around the world. You are a part of this journey and I am very grateful.

There is still more to be done. These funds will pay for the pre-production costs, the production of the miniatures and also the development of DuckQuest Fantasy Roleplay.

When Do I Get the DuckQuest PDF?

The aim is to have DuckQuest written, playtested and released by Christmas. That is no small challenge. I will be employing people to help with this and as a backer, you are welcome to contribute also. I had some surprised backers ask, "Do I get the PDF even if I only pledge for Lucky Duck?"

Everyone who pledged, even for one kiwi dollar, gets the DuckQuest PDF.

As I mentioned, if you have ideas that you would like to contribute to DuckQuest, you are welcome to get in touch. DuckQuest is for all of us.

Backerkit Pledge Manager

Within the next few weeks you will receive an invitation to the DuckQuest Backerkit to manage your pledge rewards. If you have Add-Ons or have special options you want to select, Backerkit makes that an easy process. Your shipping details will also be managed in Backerkit.

Late Pledges

If you know someone who missed out on this campaign, they will be able to join the Backerkit Pre-Order store (when I set that up, soon) via the link on the campaign page (when I put it there, soon). They can contact me before then via: Star Hat Miniatures on FaceBook, Twitter and Instagram

Special Thanks

Chris Nicholls at Macrocosm has done splendid work with casting the masters and preparing for production. He is also working with another Chris, at Lancaster Casting. Chris Taylor has been casting the resin and I couldn’t be happier with the quality, as displayed in the previous update.

Thank you to fellow kiwi Rom Brown from Whippersnapper Artworkz ) for keeping my spirits up, often late into the night. Rom also made the DuckQuest logo shine, turning my initial rough draft into a badass badge of majestic awesomeness! It wouldn’t look out of place on an 80’s video game!

Thank you Rom!

A huge thank you to Jon Hodgson for the spectacular DuckQuest cover. After admiring Jon’s art for the reboot of Dragon Warriors, I found the courage to commission him for the DuckQuest cover. This was going to be a personal project but I am happy that the miniatures will now have their very own fantasy game world and that you have the opportunity to contribute to Duckwyrld too.

Thank you Jon!

Mike Cousins from Epic Duck Studio has continued to astonish me with his comic style painting technique. Mike has been painting my ducks and giving them away to his Twitch TV subscribers. He told me it's hard to give them away! If you backed this Kickstarter because Mike sent you here, bless you.

Mike letting folks know about DuckQuest during his Twitch TV show!

Jennell Jaquays deserves extra special mention because without her encouragement, none of this would have happened!

Claire van der Goes who has painted so many ducks for me, including Daffyd Platypyros this week - more about that in an upcoming update.

Thank you to my wife and family, who make sure I have plenty of other things to enjoy in life. I am settling down with them now to watch James and the Giant Peach. Also thanks to our eldest daughter Jade, who produced the DuckQuest video with some of my minis, a box and my iphone.

Thank you to the members of this community that posted on their blogs, shared on their social media or even messaged/phoned a friend! Whether we know each other from previous Kickstarters or on gaming forums, you have helped make this campaign a success!

More Miniatures?

Yes, there are a few more miniatures to sculpt. They will appear in updates here and will be added to the pledge manager - more information on that as they are completed.

Welcome to DuckQuest

So whether you backed DuckQuest because of the ducks, the crows, the turtles, the mushrooms, or even just a love of something a bit different, it's great to have you here.

Peace,

Darcy Perry

Throne of Bones + Sarcophagus + Dungeon Terrain Set
over 4 years ago – Fri, Sep 20, 2019 at 06:15:35 PM

Greetings Delvers!

We are coming down to the final few hours. With so many of you pledging for the terrain, here's a closer look at the resin dungeon pieces.

Mordux seated upon the Throne of Bones!
Detail on the Throne of Bones
Empty Sarcophagus!
Dungeon Terrain!

As you can see, the detail is exquisite. These will be a joy to paint.

It's been a long day and night for me and I need some rest before dawn, so I will be back in a few hours. Thank you for helping make this an amazing campaign.

Blessings,

Darcy Perry

Pugbears?! Another Late Night Creation for DuckQuest.
over 4 years ago – Fri, Sep 20, 2019 at 01:44:48 AM

Greetings Delvers,

It's hard to keep up with the ideas that fly at me while sculpting. A few folks have asked, "Pugbears!? What...?"So here you are, one of the late night creations from my sculpting table.

He has a few mates, although I doubt I will get them finished before the deadline, they will be part of this Kickstarter and available later as Add-Ons (and included in the Duck Inn and Legendary Duck pledges).

Pugbear. It's a dog's life.

As we enter the last 14 hours I am very happy to hear from excited gamers from around the world, keen to see more miniatures join the fray. I will do my best to keep them coming.

Thank you for sharing this campaign with your friends and I look forward to sharing these miniatures with you!

Upcoming Stretch Goals
over 4 years ago – Fri, Sep 20, 2019 at 12:48:39 AM

Greetings Delvers!

Welcome to all the new backers. We are not far away from unleashing the Fowlbear! I thought I should mention that these miniatures are available NOW as Add-Ons. When they unlock as Stretch Goals they become FREE with the Duck Inn and Legendary pledge levels.

The dreaded Fowlbear!
Sudan, Rhinoman.
Edwina, Empress of the Wilderlands.
Ainger, Buffalo Souljah.

I am hoping we see these all reach the Duck Inn but even if those goals aren't reached, they will still be available as Add-Ons.

Thank you for supporting DuckQuest!
